Sat Chandi Path and Yajna is the most elaborate and powerful Puja ritual dedicated to Goddess Durga. Sat means hundred and Chandi means Goddess Chandika, a manifestation of Goddess Durga. During the Sat Chandi Paath and Yagna, Devi Mahatmya, also known as Durga Saptashati or Chandi Paath is recited hundred times over a period of nine days. . In the Devi Mahatmya, Goddess Durga is glorified as the Mahishasura Mardini and in Her nine manifestations as Nav Durga (Shailputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kaalratri, Mahagauri, Siddhidatri). Devi Mahatmyam is part of the Markandeya Purana, it contains 700 verses arranged in 13 chapters. The Devi Mahatmya is regarded as a Divine text just like the Vedas. Recitation of the Devi Mahatmya removes all miseries, misfortunes and Planetary malefic Doshas. It blesses devotees with victory over enemies, success in endeavors, good fortune, fearlessness and courage. Conducting the Sat Chandi Paath and Yagna during the nine days of Navratri is regarded as supremely meritorious and beneficial.
