Lord Panchmukhi Hanuman is a powerful manifestation of Lord Hanuman. ‘Panch’ means five and ‘mukhi’ means face, thus Panchmukhi Hanuman is Lord Hanuman with five faces. He is worshipped for protection, power strength and wisdom. As per scriptures each face of Panchmukhi Hanuman symbolizes a different aspect and blesses with a different and unique blessing. East Facing Anjanеya fulfils desires and wishеs of devotees. South Facing Narasimha ensures welfare and wellbeing. West facing Garuda brings good luck and wards off negative energies. Legends go that during the war of Ramayana, Lord Ram and Laxman were kidnapped by Ahiravan on the orders of Ravana and taken to patal-loka or the underworld. It was up to Lord Hanuman to save and rescue Lord Ram and Laxman. He went to patal-loka and there He found out that Ahiravan can only be defeated and killed by a person who can blow five lamps kept in five different directions together. Then Lord Hanuman took the Panchmukhi manifestation with five faces facing five different directions, blew the lamps, killed Ahiravan and saved Lord Ram and Laxman.
