Goddess Chandraghanta is third amongst the Navdurga Goddesses. She is worshipped on the third day of Navratri festival, which is also known as Tritiya. She is also known as Chandika, Chandrakhanda, Ramchandi among others. The name Chandraghanta means the one who has the moon as Her bell. Maa Chandraghanta blesses Her devotees with power, bravery and courage. She is often depicted as riding a tiger with three eyes and 10 arms holding various weapons and articles. Goddess Chandraghanta is worshiped for power, strength and confidence. Goddess Chandraghanta is also worshiped to pacify malefic effects of Planet Venus.

Seeing this mother of Maa Parvati became concerned how she can marry her beautiful and gentle daughter to Lord Shiva. Then Maa Parvati Herself took a fierce form with 10 arms, crescent moon on Her forehead like a bell and three eyes, with the third eye which is always open, the form of Goddess Chandraghanta. Lord Shiva understood what Maa Parvati wanted and took His benevolent form.
