Lord Shiva Pujas

Shiv Tandav Stotram is a devotional hymn dedicated to Lord Shiva. It was composed by demon-king Ravana, who was a great devotee of Lord Shiva. The hymn has 15 verses and is also known as Ravana Tandava Stotra. The hymn describes and glorifies various aspects and attributes of Lord Shiva. It praises Lord Shiva’s strength and knowledge, and His Tandava dance. Legends go that once high on pride and ego Ravana decided to uproot mount Kailasha and take it to Lanka along with Lord Shiva. To teach Ravana a lesson Lord Shiva pressed the mountain with His toe crushing Ravana underneath. Ravana understood his folly and started asking for forgiveness by singing a hymn in praise of Lord Shiva. The words of the Stotram placated Lord Shiva, who forgive and released Ravana. The hymn which was sung by Ravana is known as the Shiv Tandav Stotra.
