The Mumba Devi temple is dedicated to Goddess Mumbadevi a manifestation of Goddess Shakti. Maa Mumbadevi is the guardian Deity of the local Koli community. The temple is located in Zaveri Bazaar, the temple was first build in Bori Bunder in 1675 but was destroyed and later was reconstructed in Zaveri Bazaar in 1737. Legends go that Goddess Mumbadevi was sent by Lord Brahma to fight and defeat a demon Mumbaraka who was terrorizing the local. Devi defeated the demon Mumbaraka, the demon then begged the Goddess to take his name and constructed a temple of Her. The idol of Goddess Mumbadevi as the temple is decorated with nose-pin, silver crown and necklace.
