Daan Dakshina

Gupt Daan or to donate anonymously is regarded as one of the best forms of charity in Sanatan Dharma. In Srimad Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna has explained to Arjun that Gupt Daan or Good Karma or Charity done without any expectation of recognition or praise is the most pious amongst all daan. It is stated in scriptures that Gupt Daan is 10x more meritorious and beneficial that any other form of charity. Gupt Daan is an act of selflessness and noble act, the daan done without expectation of any returns makes it more so pure and devoid of any ego. As per scriptures Gupt Daan should be so that when done by the right-hand, the left-hand shouldn’t know about the same. Gupt Daan promotes humility and unconditional compassion for the giver and doesn’t demean or humble the beneficiary in any way. 

Gupt Daan or secret donation is a noble practice that has its roots in teachings of various ancient Vedic scriptures such as Puranas and Bhagavad Gita. The selfless act helps accumulate Punya (good karma) and attract Divine blessings of good fortune, health, wealth, success and prosperity. It also helps overcome Planetary malefic Doshas. Gupt Daan has many spiritual and social merits; it encourages generosity along with respecting the dignity of the recipient, making it an immense noble and ethical task. Gupt Daan can be done of any day but most people do it on special days such as birthday, anniversary, festivals and more.
